Miriam O’Callaghan has cleared up rumours that she will be taking over as presenter of the Six One News on RTE, in place of Bryan Dobson.
The Prime Time presenter was one of the names associated with the role, following the announcement that long time newsreader Bryan will be moving to Morning Ireland on RTE Radio One, but it seems Miriam is not going anywhere soon!
“I would not be interested in doing Six One,” she told The Herald.
“That’s the straight answer, because I have the job I want.
“If someone said to me, ‘What job do you want in Irish broadcasting?’, I would say Prime Time and that’s the truth.
“I’ve always stayed with them. I love it and I won’t be leaving it.”
Miriam believes that whether or not it is a man or a woman who fills the role, they will have a big job on their hands.
“I think talent outweighs anything else and whoever they pick will be great. Bryan and Sharon were both fabulous.”
Ray Kennedy, Claire Byrne, Dave McCullagh and Colette Fitzpatrick have all been names associated with the role.
