The tantalising ‘Miriam for President’ rumours first began circulating during the presidential election campaign of 2011, and now they’re back ahead of the next term, which begins in 2018. Indeed, even former spin doctor to Tony Blair said on her chat show, Saturday Night with Miriam, recently: “You’re going to be the next President!” To which Miriam responded: “Don’t mind him!”
So, naturally, when we met the RTÉ star for an exclusive VIP cover shoot and interview, we simply had to ask her about this! And the intriguing conversation went as follows:
Miriam: That story didn’t come from me! I think we have a brilliant President in Michael D. Higgins, so I don’t know why anyone would be talking about any future presidents. I have got nothing more to say on that subject.
VIP: Really?!
Miriam: Really!
VIP: So, there’s nothing in that story then?!
Miriam: Nothing!
VIP: Why don’t we believe you?!
Miriam: I don’t know! I have no idea!
So that’s Miriam’s stance on those rumours that just won’t go away! Do you believe her?! Share your thoughts on our comments section please!
Also in this wide-ranging exclusive, Miriam reveals her professional highlight of the year – “the scoop of scoops” that was her incredible Sunday with Miriam interview with Minister for Health Leo Varadkar; why her husband Steve Carson makes her so deliriously happy; and why she’d like her epitaph to read ‘She was a good mother.’
