Riverdance legend Michael Flatley has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his late mum, Elizabeth at her funeral this morning.
‘Lizzie’ Flatley was laid to rest today in Co. Carlow, following her passing just after Christmas.
At the ceremony, which took place in St Moling Church in Glynn, Michael, who was accompanied by his brothers, sisters and close family, remembered his mum, as he shared a touching tribute.
“I know everybody says this, but our mother really was the greatest mother in the world.
“To us, she was everything. She was so kind and caring, generous to a fault,” he said.
Michael continued, “Any bit of talent any of us got, it came from our parents. Without them, we would have and be nothing.
“We have been blessed in our lives, all five of us. We’ve met people from around the world.
“We’ve met rock stars, movie stars, presidents, kings and queens but I can tell you hand on heart today, in front of God, that I have never met a more elegant woman than my mother.
“We love you mom, and we’ll miss you terribly.”
We’re thinking of the whole family at this very difficult time.
