Maura Higgins may have gotten her start in the limelight on Love Island, but her love life certainly isn’t the most interesting thing about her.
The Longford woman is aware that her appearance on the show back in 2019 is why everyone is “so invested” in her love life.
However, she has been “celibate” for a year, and finding a partner isn’t high on her list of priorities.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she explained that she doesn’t “want to bring just anyone into my energy”.

“It wasn’t even a plan to be celibate. I didn’t put a timeline on it. I just had terrible exes and needed a break,” she confessed.
“I wanted to focus on me, my career, and my energy. Now that it’s been over a year, I don’t even think of men. I’m not saying I’m not open [to a relationship], but I’m not checking my DMs to see who’s in there. I’m not searching for it.”
Maura appeared on The Traitors US earlier this year, which saw her form a close friendship with Love Island US star Rob Rausch.

Fans of the show were sure that they were more than just friends but Maura has denied that there was anything romantic between them.
Maura told Us Weekly: “I’m not gonna ruin it for the viewers, but no, nothing ever happened between me and Rob. I genuinely look at Rob like a brother. Literally nothing ever happened.”
Well that’s that!
