Love Island is one of the biggest reality shows around, but does it really pay? The winning couple are offered £50,000, which they can split between them, or one person can choose to keep. But it turns out the real money is made when the show ends.
According to a rich list made by The Sun, Islanders are set to earn millions when they leave the villa. With our own home grown hero Maura Higgins ranking as the third richest contestant from the show.
The Longford native has an estimated net worth of £2.5 million, which is around €2.9 million. Prior to appearing on Love Island Maura found success as a model, but after the show her career skyrocketed and she was in high demand.
Since leaving the Villa, Maura has worked as a brand ambassador for Boohoo and Ann Summers, while doing sponsorships for brands like Bellamianta, Oh Polly, and Revolve. Along with her TV gigs on Glow Up Ireland, and This Morning.
First on the list was Maura’s close friend Molly-Mae Hague, who had an estimated net worth of £4.5 million, which is about €5.2 million. The influencer found massive success outside the show, with her appearance boosting her social media following.
Molly-Mae now works as a creative director for Pretty Little Thing, while also owning her fake tan company Filter.
In second place was Dani Dyer, daughter of Eastenders star Danny Dyer, with an estimated net worth of £3.1million or around €3.6 million. As a member of 2018’s winning couple, Dani did get half of the prize money, but she since earned far more, thanks to her career as an influencer, and being a brand ambassador for Surf.
In fourth place is Tommy Fury. As Molly-Mae’s boyfriend the pair are a power couple that have proved popular on social media. Tommy, makes plenty as a professional boxer, but his brand deals with the likes of BoohooMan also help. All this has earned him an estimated net worth of £2.4million or about €2.7 million.
Fifth on the list is Amber Gill. Winning the contest with Irish beau Greg O’Shea, the couple didn’t work out but Amber found plenty of success anyway. With an estimated net worth of £2million or around €2.3 million, she works as a brand ambassador for MissPap, and is writing her own romance novel series.
And there could be another Irish Islander on the rich list next year as joining the Love Island cast this summer will be Dubliner Dami Hope.
After four years of being single Dami, a microbiologist, will be joining the show and looking for love.
The 29-year-old is set to bring to laughs to the villa as he told ITV; “I just get goofy man, I just say whatever comes into my head and usually it works, people laugh!”
Explaining why he will do well on the show Dami said; “When I’m actually in a relationship, I think it’s a star sign thing, I’m an Aries but I’m very passionate.”
Continuing; “I always used to put that person first. If they had something they wanted to do or something they were passionate about, I’d make sure that even if it’s something I’m not talented at, I’d get talented at it just so it helps them. I’m really good at being in a team and actually looking after each other.”
Here’s wishing him the best of luck!
