Maura Derrane has opened up about the loss of her sister Rita.
She returned to our television screens this week and took the opportunity to remember Rita.
She also thanked those who had shared their condolences during the difficult time.
Dáithí Ó Sé welcomed Maura back saying: “I know you have had a tough couple of weeks you and all the family.”
Maura responded: “We have absolutely and a lot of you probably know that my sister Rita passed away last week.
“But I just want to say a heartfelt thank you from me and my family to all of you who have sent so many messages to us and also to all those who wrote in the book of condolence and to the lot of you who came into Conneelys Funeral Home in Galway to pay your respects I just want to say thank you.
“Our viewers are all wonderful.”
Her sister Rita passed away surrounded by family at University College Hospital Galway on Tuesday 14 November after a long illness.

Maura was inundated with messages on social media after the show ended.
“Hi Maura so lovely to have you back on the today show. This is a very difficult time for you and your family. I pray God will comfort you as a family and give you all the strength you need in the weeks and months ahead. One day at a time and be gentle with yourselves,” one fan commented.
While another viewer said: “Welcome back Maura, so sorry to hear about the loss of your sister , in my thoughts and prayers.”
