Maura Derrane is a trooper.
She had been filling in for Oliver Callan on RTÉ Radio 1 to the delight of fans.
She kept listeners entertained on Monday morning.
But unbeknownst to those at home, Maura had suffered a nasty fall before leaving the house as she got ready for work.
She explained how she went down on her wrist but didn’t think anything of it, she popped an ice pack on and then took some painkillers.
She presented the radio show but then confessed that it was “bad afterwards” so she decided to the VHI Swiftcare Clinic in Carrigmines.
This is where she found out that she “broke [her] paw”.
“I’ve two fractures on my wrist,” she explained in a video where she showed her wrist brace.

“It just shows you how easy it is. It was the simplest trip. I just slid in my heels, came downstairs, turned a corner and fell down. I didn’t think I’d broken it, I really didn’t.
“I thought I basically maybe bruised it or that I had maybe a small injury, but I didn’t know that I had actually have two fractures. Not one but two, yeah that’s great. A lovely start to the summer!”
Get well soon, Maura!
