Nothing about the last twelve months has been expected, least of all Matt Damon becoming a Dalkey local.
The A-lister was here in 2020 to shoot a new Ridley Scott film, but lockdown was announced almost as soon as he arrived. During that time he was incredibly vocal about how much he loves Ireland .
He was spotted regularly in the area last summer, heading to the bookshop in Dalkey, one of the village’s cute little cafes, the sea and SuperValu, Matt turned into quite the Dub.
March 2020 was quite a month, not only globally, but locally… as it was when actor #MattDamon arrived in Dalkey. This year Matt will join our line-up of guests + talk to @davidmcw about lockdown in fairy-tale Dalkey, and his love of Ireland. #DalkeyBookFestival pic.twitter.com/nrFzexUIcY

Now the Hollywood star is set to share his love for Dalkey once again, at this month’s annual Dalkey Book Festival. Festival organisers have revealed that the event will be held virtually this year and that Matt will be joining as a guest speaker.
The Bourne Identity actor will be in conversation with Irish author David McWilliams about “lockdown in fairy-tale Dalkey, and his love of Ireland.”
The chat will be taking place on Sunday the 20th of June. Tickets for the festival are available now.
