Actor Matt Damon has opened up about when he visited the Emerald Isle at the end of last year, admitting he ticked a thing or two off his bucket list.

The Hollywood star visited the capital last November for some chill time with his family, as he had just wrapped filming on the most recent instalment of the Bourne series, Jason Bourne, which is set for release this week.

Speaking to Spin 1038, the 45-year-old revealed that while here, he got to see U2 perform live at the 3Arena, and seeing the band play on their home turf was a bucket list dream for him.

“We had a weekend free and it just happened to be the weekend that U2 was playing two shows in Dublin so we went ‘that’s where we’ll go?’

“It was awesome that gig, it was like a bucket list thing. I’ve seen them a whole number of times all over the place but to be able to see them come home was just epic,” he said.

Matt also spoke about the Irish people, stating that everyone he encountered was “unbelievably nice” and let him spend time with his family in peace.

“Oh completely (left alone). Everybody was so unbelievably nice it couldn’t have been any better.

“We had the kids with us it was lovely,” he said.

Jason Bourne hits cinemas nationwide on Friday.
