Mary Byrne has spoken out about her battle with depression and revealed what helps her cope.
The former X Factor finalist has said that although taking medication helps, the condition does not go away.
“I suffer with depression, I’m on medication and I suppose you still do [suffer] even when you’re taking medication,” she told Woman’s Way.
The Dubliner also shared what helps her deal with it and how effective exercise can be.

“I do get days when I’m very low and I go for a walk.
“I find the swimming now even better than walking because you’re concentrating on trying to work your body and feel better in yourself, so you brain gets to work, yes it does help me, big time.”
Mary added that there is a big difference between feeling down and being depressed.
“I feel depressed today, but there’s a difference between feeling a bit down and out of sorts, and something that you feel constantly.
“That’s the difference with depression.”
