Marty Whelan weighs in on the future of Winning Streak

Earlier this year, it was reportedly revealed that Winning Streak would not be returning in 2023, despite plans to revamp the show.

The popular show – hosted by Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy – has been off the air for the last three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

So, with fans eager to know if Winning Streak will ever return, Marty couldn’t help but admit that he’s remaining hopeful.

Speaking to the RTE Guide, Marty shared: “I’m constantly being asked about it and people want it back.

“Everyone’s a winner on the show and there’s many good causes and charities that benefit,” he continued.

“I’m the chair of the judging panel for the good causes. So yes, I’m hoping that in time Winning Streak will return to the TV.”

Adding: “I suppose the good news is that it’s not like the set has been set on fire.”

Although the show was refreshed just five years ago, TV bosses are working hard to ensure it’s kept up to date with new features.

Just last year, Sinead expressed her disappointment of the show not returning, telling Extra.ie that she was “gutted”.

“I’m still very hopeful that it will be back eventually and I’ll get my sequins back on it. Sequins are a touch too far for the Today Show.”

Despite no sign of the show returning any time soon, both Marty and Sinead have been keeping themselves busy with other TV duties.

While Marty is currently in Liverpool to see if Ireland can reach the Eurovision grand final this coming weekend.
