Congratulations are in order for Marty Whelan as the broadcaster has become a grandparent for the very first time!
And now the little bundle of joy is here!
Speaking to TVNow Magazine, Marty revealed that his daughter Jessica and his granddaughter, Lily Nora, who came six weeks early are both doing great.
“She’s named after the two grannies, which is lovely,” Marty noted.
“She’s a premature baby, but she’s strong and she’ll be built up. We’re completely and utterly besotted and just over the moon.
“It’s very special and changes a lot of your perspective,” he added.
“I mean, I love my children of course, but this is a new addition. We got to meet her for the first time the other weekend and I got to hold her.
“We were just gobsmacked. You feel, ‘Okay I have to do my best by her now.’ And that’s okay too. We are very blessed.”
No, we’re not crying you are!
Besides becoming a grandparent, Marty is also busy prepping for the Eurovision Song Contest and Marty in the Evening with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra which takes to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre later this summer.
Sure, it’s all go!
