Repro Free: 24/01/2019 Ken Scully, Country Manager, M&S Ireland is pictured with Shane Carthy, Dublin GAA Player, Kieran Brady, Director of Funding & Advocacy at Pieta House and second year students Dylan Stoeckhardt and Aaron Dempsey Cleary, at the announcement that Marks & Spencer is to partner with the Pieta House Resilience Academy, a six-week mental health programme offered to second year students in secondary schools nationwide. The retailer’s target is to raise €100,000 this year to enable Pieta House Resilience Academy facilitator teams to reach 30 extra schools and nearly 3,500 more students across the country.
Over 3,000 students participated in the Resilience Academy in 2018 and with M&S’s support, this number will grow to over 7,500 this year. M&S Liffey Valley has supported Pieta House as its nominated charity for 7 years. This support was extended in 2018 with a nationwide fundraising campaign across all M&S stores in Ireland, whereby store colleagues and customers raised €80,000. This money enabled Pieta House to recruit new facilitator teams to reach schools in Cork and Galway for the first time.
