Majella O’Donnell has opened up about how her relationship with Daniel first began, over two decades ago.
The pair met in Tenerife in ’90s at her family’s bar and it wasn’t long before they fell head over heels in love.
Speaking to the Sunday World she said, “He started coming down to their bar. I thought that was really nice of him, knowing that he was fairly well-known, that he would take the time out to go down and see Mum and Dad.
“There was a physical attraction, of course, but because I was divorced I never thought in a million years that he would have any significant interest in me at all. When he did show a bit of interest I thought, ‘Wow, this is fabulous’.”
She reveals Daniel didn’t waste any time, and let her know pretty quickly how he felt.
“The first week when I met him in Tenerife, he made the move and kissed me,” she beamed.
The pair have since been married for almost 20 years and couldn’t be happier.
In 2020, Daniel planned an extravagant 60th birthday party for his wife Majella, which would have seen her children fly to Barbados for the surprise get-together.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, Daniel told us, “We had a cruise booked for Majella’s 60th in April. The plan was to board the cruise in Barbados and travel to Lisbon.
“But what Majella didn’t know was that her children and their families were also coming as a surprise, too! They were going to knock on the door of our cabin – surprise!”
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 the plans significantly changed, but they enjoyed it nonetheless.
“Instead we did a Zoom party,” said Majella. While Daniel added, “That was a far cheaper date!”
