Lucy Kennedy is the proudest mam in the world. She can’t contain her joy as she chats about her three children Jack, Holly and Jess.
“Jack is in first year and he’s nearly 13 so he’s at that stage where everything I do is so embarrassing. Holly is 10 and Jess is five, she started school three weeks ago,” she tells us as we chat.
She admits to VIP Magazine that watching her baby head off to school was a tough one. But she has raised three very independent kids, so her youngest was more than happy to head off into schoolyard without her mother.
“I obviously took the morning off Classic Hits to be there. I was feeling so sad, it is the next step but it feels like the end of an era. Jess is my baby as well. Even though she’s five, I still try to carry her. I don’t want to let go. But she is really settling in and she loves it. She didn’t look back!”
She laughs that her little one is just like her mother as she loves to chit-chat. And honest who doesn’t?
“The teacher says she sticks up her hand and answers all the questions. She talks a lot, a lot! She is her mother’s daughter!”
So, we ask, are the rest of her children mini-mes? She tells us with a laugh that her dog, Riley is probably the most similar “child”.
“She’s starting to look like me but that’s a different story,” she jokes.
“Jack would be quite like my husband Richie because he’s quite calm and he’s very funny. Nothing really affects him,” she explains.
However, it’s her daughter Holly that is her twin, she confesses.
“Holly, my second, is like my mother says, it’s like I gave birth to myself. I could see her propped up against a bar chatting away to Podge and Rodge, definitely. She has that naughty streak that I have.”
As for her youngest?
“Jess is the third child and we think that she’s going to just work on a beach in Hawaii. She’s so chill. I’m so lucky, all my babies are happy and healthy. It is full-on. Having a third child does double the work of everything. But I love it, I love them.”
Of course, Lucy may literally be the busiest woman on the planet between Living with Lucy, Lucy Investigates, her show on Classic Hits and her children’s book series. So she must have more time now that her children are in school.
“You would think I would have more time but I don’t! I’m like a taxi. I have about two hours in the day!” she confesses, between her radio show in the morning and collecting her kids, it’s a full-on gig!
But she wouldn’t have it any other way!
