Lucy Kennedy is the busy mother of three. With her youngest child, five-year-old Jess has heading to school, she knows things are changing.
Her 12-year-old son, Jack, didn’t even want to take part in VIP Magazine’s photoshoot. He’s at that age, she explains, joking its the first time he has said no to her.
They’re growing up so fast!
Speaking to us for our September issue, she admits that them growing up doesn’t scare her. Well, not too much anyway.
“In the world that they’re in, they have access to everything. Between YouTube and everything else, they could see some yucky things online,” she confesses.
“So I always say to them – and they always go ‘oh, no…’ – but I always say that if there’s anything they need to ask me about or talk to me about, to just come to me. And I’d like to feel, please God, that our children will feel they can do that.
“I look at them and in one sense they are still my babies, and in my heart of hearts I would love to press pause on them growing up, but on the other hand, I want to protect them, and sometimes that’s by answering difficult questions.”
She continues with a laugh: “You just have to take a deep breath and go for it. And then go, ‘Oh my god, I need a drink!’ afterwards!”
