Louise Cooney is still glowing from her wedding. She walked down the aisle in November at Cashel Palace, Co Tipperary.
She and Mark Sweeney said, “I do,” surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
Now, Louise is enjoying married life, telling us at the launch of this year’s Platinum VIP Style Awards: “It doesn’t feel hugely different but it’s lovely.
“We have all these amazing memories to look back on. I have to say, as perfect as our wedding day was, it’s so nice to have our weekends back. We’re not planning this huge event and everything went well. I’m just enjoying it, enjoying the normality of married life.”
She adds: “I was very chill, I took a very chilled approach to wedding planning. But we didn’t have a wedding planner, I was organising all the bits.
“We had a big wedding, we both have big families. So there was a lot of moving parts. But it all came together and it was all perfect. I’m just so happy. Looking back at it, it’s so nice to have those memories.”
Of course, one of the most important people who was in attendance at the wedding was Louise and Mark’s son, Jude.
“He’s not really a baby anymore,” Louise confesses as she gushes about her little one.
“He’s almost two-and-a-half. He’s full of chat, he’s full of cuddles. He’s definitely a mammy’s boy. I just find laughing at him every day. He has his own friends now, he tells us what he wants and he’s becoming more grown-up every day.”
She explains that her toddler “changes in front of your eyes”.
“People say it gets better and it really does. I feel like we have a little friendship now and we can do things together. I can talk to him, sometimes he understands me and sometimes he doesn’t. It’s great. It’s a bit emotional at the milestones, like birthdays and things. But for the most part it’s just good fun.”
So what’s next for Louise? Well, she’s hoping to sit in the moment.
“Last year was so busy, so I’m just taking it as it comes. I’m looking forward to the Style Awards, I’m trying to plan my dress for that. So that’ll be the next thing.
“We have a nice few plans coming up in the summer. I’m just enjoying life, just enjoying being present and Jude at the age he’s at. I’m enjoying being married. And everyone is healthy, thank God.”
