Louisa Harland is having an incredible year.
She starred in The Walsh Sisters, as the beloved character of Anna. She’s keeping her fingers crossed for a second season.
She also appeared in Hamnet as Rowan, Jessie Buckley’s late mother in flashbacks throughout the film.
Of course, Jessie’s performance has been creating Oscar buzz, but Louisa picked up an IFTA over the weekend just as well in the Rising Star category.

When VIP Magazine caught up with Louisa on the red carpet ahead of the IFTA ceremony, we had to ask about The Walsh Sisters and season two.
“We haven’t heard anything. The books are so loved, I’m still going back and rereading Marian Keyes’ books. They just give me endless joy,” she enthuses.
Of course, Louisa is most known for her role of Orla McCool from Derry Girls. And she’s raging she hasn’t had a second to sit down to watch Lisa McGee’s new show, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.
“I haven’t seen it yet. And people are sending me so many clips. But I don’t want to watch them because I want to watch the show in full. No doubt it’s impeccably written,” she says with a smile.

So what has Louisa been watching? Well she tells us: “I just watched Christy the other day, Brendan Canty’s film. It’s amazing. My favourite film this year is, No Other Choice. It’s sensational. It’s been a great year for film.”
As for her favourite Irish film ever? Well, how could she pick one?
“Adam and Paul, Intermission…There are so many, the list goes on and on. There are so many modern films and even more coming out.”
