Linda Martin found fame in the band Chips, before hitting out on her own and winning the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest. But the Belfast woman has revealed that life in the spotlight isn’t always glamorous as she opened up about her experience with a stalker.
Speaking to the Independent, Linda revealed that while she adores her loyal fans, some take it too far. Citing a chilling incident she had with a man who would travel across Europe to find her.
Explaining; “The diehards are adorable but I did have one stalker.”
“He would regularly travel from France to Dublin, get a taxi to the office and when they’d tell him I wasn’t there, he’d go back to France.”

But while it sounds frightening, the Eurovision champ never let it bother her.
As she said; “It was never anything I worried about. His toes are probably turned up at this stage.”
While that experience was one of the extreme downsides to her success, Linda also revealed the best parts, opening up about what it was like to win Eurovision.
Saying; “It was the best thing that ever happened to me in my musical life and I’m still living off it. It’s been so kind to me.”

She also offered some advice to this year’s entry Brooke Scullion, who will be performing in the semi-final on Thursday evening.
Explaining; “Make sure your voice is in tune but enjoy it. The Eurovision Song Contest is the most amazing platform in the world for somebody to get noticed. Where else would you have 300 million people listening and watching you in one night?”
