Sunday night saw the first elimination of this year’s Dancing with the Stars, which sadly meant we had to say goodbye to the ever-so-lovely Leah O’Rourke.
The 34-year-old actress, who was paired with pro dancer John Nolan, failed to impress judges the past three weeks putting her at the bottom of the leaderboard.
However, Leah admitted that it “wasn’t a total surprise” to her.
Speaking to VIP Magazine after the show, Leah revealed: “I’m okay like I sort of had an idea. We were bottom of the leaderboard, I’m not the best dancer and it’s a dance contest.
Despite not being an experienced dancer, the Derry Girls star expressed how she had the most amazing time the past few months.
“I’m glad I did it. I feel if you’re brave enough to do this there’s very little you wouldn’t do. Bungee jumping next!” she joked.
Of course, throughout her time on the show, Leah had the support from her fellow Derry Girls co-stars saying: “They’ve all been so so supportive and they’re all off doing projects now and everybody’s just kind of supportive of each other.”
“My dedication week would have been to Lisa, who wrote Derry Girls,” she added.
Reflecting back on her journey Leah admitted that she never actually thought she would do something like Dancing with the Stars.
“I remember watching it being like I would never do that. Then when the opportunity came, all my friends and family were like this is too good of an opportunity to turn down, you have to give it a try.”
And that’s exactly what she did. “You only live once and an opportunity like this wouldn’t come around again,” expressed Leah.
“If I had turned it down, I would always be looking back wondering what it would have been like and now I know so that’s good.”
So what’s next? “I would love to do like a good crime drama, or something like that,” confessed Leah.
We would certainly love that too – watch this space people!
