MTV presenter Laura Whitmore has swapped the glitz and glam of her usual holiday hotspots for a volunteering trip to Africa.
Laura travelled to Kenya with an organisation called MeToWe: a voluntary group who arrange development projects in communities around Africa.
She was only too happy to get involved with them and seems to be enjoying her time in Kenya, having plenty of new experiences.
“So I’m going to be here for the coming week…” she said, as she posted a picture of some wild Zebra’s roaming in the countryside.
When she’s not admiring the local wildlife, the Wicklow native has been spending time with young students in local Kenyan schools, learning as much as she can about their way of life.
“Words are tough to find to explain the experiences I’ve had this past week. The strong, inspirational women and men I met in the Masai Mara region in Kenya will stay with me always,” she said online.
Laura also posed for a picture with founder of Free The Children, another volunteer company she has been working with.
She wrote, “I’ve been able to watch up close the amazing work of Craig Kielburger and his team this week. Without getting too ‘pagent queen speechy’, makes me want to be the best person I can be #BeTheChange.”
Well good for her!
