Late Late Show viewers were extremely impressed with last night’s episode. Particularly with social media star Trisha Lewis who opened up about her struggles with a gambling addiction.

The Cork native joined host Ryan Tubridy, confessing that when she last appeared on the show back in 2019, she was in the midst of a severe gambling addiction.

Getting candid, the chef explained: “I am a gambling addict. I didn’t share it with you that time because I wasn’t ready.”

“I was trying to figure out my weight and get it all sorted and I just wasn’t able to go there.

“But in October something mad came over me, I was walking around Dun Laoighre and I was like ‘I’m ready’, and I was no longer embarrassed.”

Trisha continued on to explain how her addiction started when she was in her 20s and at the height of her struggles she was going to a casino seven days a week.

Explaining how a gambling addiction can be so destructive, the 34-year-old confessed: “The thing is Ryan, you have no idea if I just bet everything. You can’t see it, you can’t hear it, you can’t smell it. It is destroying people. It’s like a tar going through your body.”

“And there are people at home tonight, that are sitting there, panicking. And I get it and I can feel it, but I just know that they have to do it, they have to put themselves first. And it’s not tomorrow, cause by tomorrow you’ll have convinced yourself you’re just a player. You have to admit, ‘I am a gambler, this is where I am.'”

“And I think the most important part is, you have to forgive yourself.”

The audience was in awe of Trisha and her bravery, sharing their admiration for her on social media.

Comedian Joanne McNally also reached out to praise the influencer, posting a clip from the interview and writing: “This is awful and amazing.”

While Johnny “Johnny B” O’Brien, of the Two Johnnies fame, also shared a clip of himself watching the show, as he shouted: “Go on Trish!”
