Kodaline’s Steve Garrigan talks about seeing his book on shelves for the first time

Kodaline frontman Steve Garrigan has released his first book titled High Hopes, which is now available in stores.

The singer visited Eason to see his book on shelves for the first time and took to Instagram to share his emotions about its release, writing;

“Hey guys Steve here thanks to @eason_ireland for having me in earlier, knowing that my book is officially out in the world today and seeing it on the shelves is a feeling that’s hard to describe.

“To anybody who picks up a copy I hope you can take something positive from it or at very least I hope you enjoy my story.

“Thanks to @hachetteireland for all their hard work getting it out there. It’s available in all good book shops and online.

Steve received an impressive cake in the shape of his book during his visit, sharing a video of the cake with his Instagram post he said;

“Oh and thanks to @ca_cooley for the very thoughtful but awesome book cake. Big love guys, Steve X”

Steve recently spoke to followers about his experience writing the book saying;

“Writing this book has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done but at the same time I’m really happy I did it. It’ll be out on the 7th of October and it’ll be available in all good book stores and there will also be an audiobook version too.”

He posted a picture of himself recording the audio book saying;

“I’m used to being in a studio but not like this….I’ve been recording the audiobook version of my book this week, it’s been a fairly strange experience so far but thanks to Tony @moynihan_russell_studios for making me feel comfortable and directing me through it.”

The book is described as deeply personal as it covers his life from a very young age. Steve shares his experiences of growing up in Dublin, and the shyness that only dissolved when he was playing an instrument or in front of a microphone.

As well as discussing the joys of creating songs that have helped make Kodaline become one of Ireland’s best-selling bands he also delves into the highs and lows of touring. After a bout of depression and crippling panic attacks that threatened to derail his career he reveals that music and the support of those around him helped him though the anxiety.

Congratulations Steve! We will be keeping an eye out for the book on shelves.
