Keith Duffy has opened up about becoming a dad at such a young age. The former Boyzone star had his first son when he was just 20-years-old.
Dubliner Keith has now spoken about his sadness at missing milestone moments in his son Jay and daughter Mia’s early life, because he was on tour.
As his former bandmate Ronan Keating has just announced that he’s set to be become a dad again, Keith has admitted that he won’t be having anymore children because he’s too old.
Speaking to the IrishMirror.ie he said, “I feel that I missed out on a great deal. I was only 20 when Lisa got pregnant, she was my first girlfriend and I thought I knew it all back then.
“I’m 41 now and I have a son who’s half my age. He’s more of a friend and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
“My mates have kids that are young and I love hanging out with them – I love kids – and that makes me a bit sad that I wasn’t able to be there with Jay because I was touring with Boyzone when he was born.
“I missed out on so much, like the first steps, the first words and the first tooth. So there’s a part of me that would love to have more kids but I think me and Lisa are too old now.”
At least he has two great kids to be proud of.
