Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly secure Ireland’s first Paralympic gold

Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly have secured Ireland’s first Paralympic gold of 2024.

This also means that Ireland now has five Paralympic medals.

Linda Kelly piloted the tandem bike with Katie-George Dunlevy to bring home victory.

This means that Katie-George has taken gold in the 28.3km road time trial in three consecutive Paralympics.

They raced over the finish line a whopping one minute and 23 seconds ahead of their closest competitor.

This is her fourth Paralympic gold medal and seventh in total. However, it marks the first time she podiumed without Eve McCrystal piloting the bike.

Instead, Eve piloted Josephine Healion in that event, with the pair coming in fifth.

On Sunday, Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal nabbed the second medal of the games.

And we couldn’t be more proud!

They claimed their sixth Paralympic Games medal in Paris after winning silver in the B 3,000m individual pursuit in tandem cycling.

This medal joins their haul of two golds and one silver won in Tokyo, as well as the one gold and one silver they secured in Rio.

After a decade cycling together, this race marked the end of their partnership. And it was certainly an emotional way to end.
