Kathryn Thomas launched her pregnancy fitness programme BumpFit yesterday and celebrated with an event letting everyone know what BumpFit is all about.
Kathryn took to Instagram to share why staying fit during pregnancy was, and is, so important to her.
“Staying fit and mobile throughout my 2 pregnancies has been so important, not just for my physical health but my mental health too. With all the anxieties and uncertainties that come with pregnancy, taking time out to focus on moving and feeling strong was something I felt I could control.

“Not that I felt like training every week …. Believe me there were days where I happily chose to sit on the couch all and eat Cornetto’s with absolutely no guilt whatsoever and particularly coming into these last few weeks of pregnancy I’ve slowed down and paired back my workouts.
“But the benefits of exercise in pregnancy are huge not just for labour and childbirth but also for post natal recovery too.
A big thank you to my friend, and personal trainer and mum of 3 @roisinjones1 for helping create it. Ro specialised in pre and post natal training. Also to my amazing videographer @michellealicex for shooting snd editing everything.”
The programme is a step by step plan for each week and follow-along videos to help get expectant mums moving safely and healthily.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the event the presenter revealed she already has names picked out for her unborn child;
“We have a few [baby names]. We had narrowed it down to maybe four or five the last time but this time, there’s just so much other things happening I don’t think we’ve given it enough time.
“But I think now that I’m officially closing down, we’ll have a little bit more of an idea in the next couple of weeks.”
Kathryn is about to go on maternity leave and she recently spoke about how she’s feeling having her second child at 42;
“I didn’t feel any more nervous at 42 than I did at 39, the first time round.
“I thought my body was fit enough, my mind was ready and the same with Padraig as well.”

Although she went on to share advice for women who may be feeling anxious or nervous about their own situation. “I think it’s a big decision for people as the years go on, and it’s not working out for couples when they’re trying to have a family.”
“Every couple is different, every woman is different and I think it’s really important to tune into how your own body is feeling.
“Also, ask the medical professionals if you have something that’s worrying you, or if you’re worried about your age, ask what are the consequences at 40 or 42 or 45.”
“There’s lots of different tests that can be done to put your mind at ease if you do fall pregnant in terms of the health of the baby. Ask the right questions, no question is a silly question.”
