Karl Shiels is to be laid to rest tomorrow (Thursday, July 18th) following his sudden death over the weekend.
The 47-year-old, best known for his role as Robbie Quinn on RTE’s Fair City, passed away on Sunday night, his agent confirmed.
The funeral mass will take place at the Church of Our Lady Mother of the Church, Beechpark Avenue, Castleknock at 11.30am, followed by cremation at Newlands Cross Crematorium.
The family have asked for donations to be made to Hope House in lieu of flowers.
Remembering their good friend and colleague at this difficult time, the cast of Fair City have been paying their respects to Karl.
Eric Lalor said, “Devastated to hear of the passing of Karl.
“A hugely gifted actor and a truly great friend. I loved our scenes together, I will miss him so much. May he rest in peace.”
Jenny Dixon, who left the show last year, added, “Very sad news. A big character, on and off screen.
“A lovable rogue and heart of gold. Always there with a hug and kind words. Can’t believe I’m writing this.
“It was an honour to work with you and to know you as a friend. You’re missed already….”
