Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is set to return to television in the hit series, The Vikings. It has been confirmed that he will be playing a warrior in the upcoming fifth season of the period drama.
The show was created by Michael Hirst, who also wrote The Tudors, a show which gained Rhys Myers a huge following on the small screen. The Vikings is about the Norsemen of early Scandinavia, and the new series is set to resume filming this summer, after which it will air in 2017 on The History channel.
The casting of Johnathan means a welcome reunion between Michael Hirst and the the star, who worked together on The Tudors for four seasons from 2007 to 2010.
“Vikings has raided the hearts of audiences and we are thrilled that Jonathan Rhys Myers will become a bigger part of the History family after his incredible performance in our upcoming production of Roots”, History Channel president Jana Bennett said.
“We are excited to have Jonathan Rhys Meyers join our talented cast and watch as this epic story evolves heading into Season 5.”
