Johnny Ward and Emily Barker returned to the dancefloor yesterday afternoon, in memory of his late dad.
The pair took part in Today FM’s charity fundraiser Be A Dancer For Cancer, to remember his dad John who sadly passed away in February.
The event, which saw hundreds of people around the country get up for a jig, was organised to raise vital funds for research and care of cancer patients around Ireland.
Speaking to VIP Magazine earlier this week, Emily told us, “We’re going to do it in aid of dad, in memory of him. It’ll be nice for Johnny to get back dancing with a purpose.”
They were joined by a whole host of famous faces such as Mairead Ronan, Brian Kennedy and Sile Seoige to name a few.
Speaking of Today’s event Róisín Reilly, Head of Marketing for Today FM said: “We know from The Irish Cancer Society that every 3 minutes in Ireland, someone receives a cancer diagnosis. That’s a shocking statistic.
“The stories we’ve heard on Today FM during this campaign have been the driving force behind its success. The number of fundraising dance events happening across the country today is 210 and that continues to climb as the day goes on.
“The message is simple: Dance & Donate. The National Day of Dancing should become a weekly event; it’s such a feel good thing to do”
