However he made a move that no one could have seen coming and broke out his acting chops!

He appeared in a new ad for Lidl, yep, you read that right!

The former Liveline presenter channelled his inner detective as the ad went for a noir movie theme.

The hilarious ad sees him investigate the low prices in the budget supermarket.

We can’t cope!

Despite rumours swirling about him swapping Liveline for the Áras, he took to social media to confirm he had no interest in politics.

“Thanks , but to be absolutely clear I am NOT seeking a nomination from any politicians, local or national, for the office of @PresidentIRL I will not be adding anything further,” he wrote.

In fact, he has already revealed that he is planning to write a book about corporal punishment in Ireland.

Speaking on the radio show, he confessed: “The stories are just horrific, beyond horrific, of corporal punishment, but even what went on in schools was horrific… it was abolished here in 1972 but it still went on. It was rampant in our schools.”
