Joanna Donnelly surprised viewers on Monday night when she signed off for the final time.
The meterologist presented the weather forecast on RTÉ’s Nine O’Clock News last night and finished by saying, “that is my last forecast”.
She then took to social media to share a lengthier message as she confirmed she would no longer be presenting the weather forecast.
“I’ve given the very best I could possibly give to the weather forecast so I hope anybody that’s wondering what happened [knows] it wasn’t the forecast,” she said in an informal Instagram Story.

She added that her decision to leave after 30 years has “nothing to do with my work product”.
Joanna has been working with Met Éireann for nearly 30 years and has been presenting on RTÉ’s news for the past decade.
“I started Met Éireann in August 1995 in the middle of the glorious heat wave and it’s flown by,” she confessed.
“I broke it down with my husband, the years that I spent working before I was a forecaster, and then as an early forecaster, as a novice forecaster with my small children, and then my years struggling with infertility, and then I went on TV.”

She went on to say: “I’ve gotten so much out of it, not least Dancing With the Stars, which I really, really enjoyed.”
“Now what? I don’t know. We’ll see,” she confessed.
Well, we can’t wait to see what’s next for Joanna!
