As her impending wedding looms, RTE 2FM presenter Jenny Greene has opened up about everything we need to know about the big day!
The DJ got engaged to partner Kelly Keogh in September of this year, and while the pair have been together for years, neither Jenny nor Kelly went out of their to chat about their personal lives or sexuality in public.
She admitted that as they were so quiet, the news of their engagement came as a surprise to a number of people.
Speaking to The Sun, Jenny explained, “It’s not that I didn’t want to speak about my personal life before, I just didn’t want to be known as ‘the gay DJ’, I didn’t want to be in that box, or any box. A lot of people didn’t presume it, sometimes people do, so people were shocked [when they found out].”
The 32-year-old DJ, and partner Kelly are due to tie the knot in Ireland next summer, and Jenny admitted that they are both very involved in the organising of the wedding, so it can be difficult at times.
“We are both going to get wedding dresses now, but we are trying to make that fun as it’s a bit of a chore to us both. It’s all happening quite quickly, but that’s what happens when you have two women planning a wedding,” she laughed.
Although the wedding will be small, with just family and close friends in attendance, the 2FM star explains that it’s important for her to have it all done properly. Jenny was vocal about being behind the marriage equality campaign, believing that everyone should be able to legally wed.
“It is important to us that we are able to get married in our own country and do it properly. You don’t want to go into a marriage with legal issues and if you have kids worries about guardianship and all that sort of thing, you want to do it properly like other couples,” she said.
Aside from her impending nuptials, Jenny is also celebrating the high JNLR figures of her daytime show with Nicky Byrne. The pair gained 13,000 fans over three months – how amazing?!
