Jennifer Zamparelli confirmed this week that she would be hanging up her mic in 2FM.
She has been on extended leave from the radio show.
However, Jennifer dropped into the 2FM studios this morning to bid farewell after 10 years on air.
She joined Laura Fox, who had been taking on the show while she was off.
“It’s been a real privilege to work in one of the coolest radio stations,” Jennifer admitted.
“I know at the moment it’s unpredictable and there is lots of gossip and lots of things going on – but isn’t that what we love about it?”
However, she was moved to tears as she said goodbye for the last time on air.
“I just want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to come back and sign off here, where I should.
“I knew I made the right decision because I had been flip-flopping for a while.”
She went on to say: “But last night when it came on the news, I was watching with my kids and when the newsreader explained the reason why, that I want to spend time with my family, my son hugged me.”
However, she was quick to joke: “But he’s wrecking my head this morning, so if you will have me back…”
It looks like she will be continuing on at the helm of Dancing with the Stars as she said that she “hasn’t left RTE, just 2FM”.
There has been a lot of upheaval with 2FM as Doireann Garrihy and The 2 Johnnies also announcing their departures.
