Jennifer MaGuire has admitted she won’t be returning for the new series of Republic of Telly, as it’s time for her ‘move on’.
She has been a part of the show for seven years, but has now decided not to go back.
Speaking to The Herald, she said, “The show is back, but I won’t be. I’ve done it for seven years. It was very hard to say it, it was a very tough decision, but I won’t be back for this season.”
Despite leaving Republic of Telly, Jennifer will remain somewhat involved as she’s focusing on a new sitcom, based on a sketch from the comedy show.
Jennifer confirmed that she, alongside her co-presenter Bernard O’Shea, will star in a new sitcom, Bridget and Eamon.
“We’re in the process of writing it and it’s going into production, and it’s around the same time as Republic of Telly. I couldn’t do both, so something had to give. The Republic of Telly will keep going and going and it’s been so much fun, but it’s time to move on,” she said.
The Dubliner admitted that while she loves to have a busy work schedule, she needs to be able to devote some time to her new daughter, Florence, too.
“We have this opportunity with Bridget and Eamon, and you don’t often get chances like that, so I have to put my everything into it. And I have a child to raise, and do a morning breakfast show,” she said.
