Jamie-Lee O’Donnell is set to join Rebel Wilson in the upcoming comedy Girl Group, starring alongside Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus) and Nicole Scherzinger (Sunset Boulevard).

The film features an all-star ensemble, including Sheridan Smith, Guz Khan, Loren Gray, and Jolene Blalock, as well as Ashley Roberts (The Pussycat Dolls), Melanie Chisholm (Spice Girls), and Shaznay Lewis (All Saints).

Girl Group follows a group of women who come together to form a girl band, Girlfriends, led by Wilson’s character, in what promises to be a hilarious and music-filled comedy.

According to the official synopsis, Rebel plays “a pop-diva who’s been kicked out of her own girl group’s reunion tour and slapped with a sentence of court-ordered community service”.

She then “seizes the change to stage a comeback by coaching a group of misfit teen girls for a major record label audition”.

Love it!

Previously speaking about the project to The Irish News,  Jamie-Lee said: “[Girl Group] is really fun, I’m having a blast on it.

“It’s a proper big comedy and just great craic,” she added.

Having shot to fame as Michelle Mallon in Derry Girls, Jamie-Lee once told STELLAR Magazine that she still can’t quite wrap her head around the show’s incredible popularity.

“I don’t think I’m at the point where I can fully grasp the impact — my brain isn’t letting me do it yet,” she admitted.

Growing up in Derry herself, the series holds an extra special place in Jamie-Lee’s heart.

It also led to one of her closest friendships with co-star Saoirse-Monica Jackson, for whom she recently served as a bridesmaid. How sweet!
