Jake Carter has opened up about his relationship with dance partner Karen Byrne.
The pair confirmed they were dating after it emerged that Karen split from her boyfriend and business partner Wojtek Potazkin.
Jake and Karen were crowned champions of Dancing with the Stars 2018 and struck up a very close friendship at the time.
Now that they have become romantically involved, Jake says they love spending time together but separately remain very busy.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, Jake said the two are “both lead really busy lives but are enjoying being in each other’s company – off the dance floor.”
The singer also revealed that it was he who made the first move.
“It was me who asked her out, it was just one of those things. We were friends and then it just kind of happened. I probably was bricking myself, yeah,” he told the Herald.
He also said he is thankful that they were such good friends before anything romantic occurred.
“We are both different in our own ways. We got to know each other on the show and were friends before anything,” he said. “It’s great in that sense and we are still friends now and it works very well. We’re both our own people, we are a bit different.”
Karen split from her boyfriend Wojtek a few months ago and he since revealed that they have called time on their dance school partnership.
Karen will no doubt be preparing for series three of Dancing with the Stars while Jake heads off on tour around Ireland next week.
Jake will be in the Aldi Marquee at the National Ploughing Championships on Tuesday 18th September.
