Celia Holman Lee has opened up about her experience with anxiety, admitting that the current lockdown restrictions have caused it to spike.

Speaking on Ireland AM this week, the Irish model explained that she noticed it getting a little out of hand recently when she found she couldn’t concentrate on any one thing.

” I wasn’t actually taking it in, my mind was jumping and jumping (with) kind of anxiousness. I’ve had it all my life… I’m anxious anyway but it has developed quite a bit more, to be quite honest with you,” Celia told host Karen Koster.

Celia said that she of course understands that lockdown restrictions are for the “good of everybody and the health of the country”, but she admits that still with the knowledge, it doesn’t make being isolated any easier to cope with, “As human beings, we’re not meant to be isolated in a way.”

However, celebrating her 70th birthday recently, Celia says that her time on the planet has taught her ways to manage her feelings of anxiousness. She credits taking time out for herself is the best way to combat her pesky feelings.

“This is something obviously I’m tough enough and around long enough to address it, and know that I need to calm a little, take my time and that things will be alright.”

Celia credits her love of clothing and glamour as a way to lift her mood. Forever the most glamorous woman in Ireland, she says that putting in the effort to dress up multiple times a week is a huge boost for her.

“Don’t stop” (getting glammed up) she says.

“Give yourself two days a week, three days a week and dress yourself up. This is what I do for myself, for my own mental health,”

“Girl, I’m in this business since I was 15… So I have been going out there, putting on my clothes, dressing myself up all my life… I just don’t want to stop, I feel like if I stop I’ll fall down!”
