An Irish version of the popular reality show, The Masked Singer could be on the way!
A source told The Irish Sun: “Dancing With The Stars is just too expensive for RTÉ. The national broadcaster is facing into a recession with a drop in ad revenue and has to budget accordingly.”
Another source then told The Sunday World that the quirky singing show could be on the cards, saying: “Virgin Media boss Bill Malone has said in the past the station are interested in perhaps screening an Irish version [of The Masked Singer].”

“Dancing With The Stars on RTÉ begins every year in January and lasts until March, so if an Irish version does air in the same slot, it will be running side by side for most of its run.”
The Masked Singer gathers a group of celebrities who dress up in mascot costumes leaving them unrecognisable and perform a series of songs week by week, while judges try to decipher which celeb could be behind the mask.
It’s wacky, hilarious and totally entertaining!
For now, we have confirmation that DWTS is returning in 2023, this time with a new host alongside Jennifer Zamperelli as Nicky Byrne tours with Westlife.
We don’t yet know who will step into his shoes but we will be keeping an ear out for any updates!
