Irish stars pay tribute to Paul Costelloe

Paul Costelloe sadly passed away at the age of 80.

His family shared a statement which read that they are “deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Costelloe following a short illness”.

“He was surrounded by his wife and seven children and passed peacefully in London.”

The news came as a shock to the Irish fashion scene where Paul was a titan. He had just launched a new collection with Dunnes Stores as well as closing out the inaugural Irish Fashion Week last month.

Tributes poured in for the fashion icon.

Rosanna Davison wrote: “I’m so sad to hear of Paul Costelloe’s passing. Paul wasn’t just a hugely talented designer, he was a key figure in Irish fashion. His work, his vision and his decades of creativity are woven into Ireland’s fashion history. He championed Irish talent and built a hugely successful international career that inspired so many of us along the way.

“I first walked in his London Fashion Week show in 2004 and just last month at his show as the grand finale for Ireland Fashion Week. Paul, along with the Costelloe family and the whole team, always treated me with warmth, kindness and real encouragement. It has been a huge honour to be a small part of the brand’s journey.

“I’m proud to have known him, proud to have worked with him and grateful for the support and opportunities he gave me over the years. His legacy will live on in all the people he uplifted and inspired.

“Rest in peace, Paul, and thank you for everything.”
