A young Irish fan who threw water at Niall Horan has been tormented with death threats ever since the incident occurred.

The 15-year-old was at their Belfast show on Thursday night and splashed the star, and his guitar, with water.

In a video shared online, Niall is seen grimacing before walking away.

Many fans took to Twitter claiming the girl could have electrocuted the Mullingar man, and a trend, “CanYouRespectNiall” soon started, with abuse being hurled at the young fan.

Her mother has since come out and said the girl was playing a game with Louis Tomlinson, who started splashing her and her friends with water.

Writing to Joe.ie, her mother said, “The actual fact of the throwing water occurred because Louis had started throwing water around her and her friends, and she as well as others, had took this to be a game and threw some back.”

Despite saying she was “extremely sorry” for the accident, the young girl from Derry is now traumatised, after receiving so many death threats.

“My daughter and I want all this to stop because she loves 1D so much. She wants Niall and the rest of the band to know that this has been blew out of proportion and she would never in her wildest dreams want to hurt any of them,” she said.

Hopefully Niall will jump on board soon and put an end to the cyberbullying.
