Irish Harry Potter star Devon Murray blew his €1.2million Harry Potter film fortune on cars, booze and girls, his mother told the High Court yesterday.
Fidelma Murray, the film star’s mother, told the court that she only has one child and she wasn’t going to scold him for spending his hard earned wage.
“He was a teenage boy. He went drinking. He went out with girls. He bought cars. I only have one child. I wasn’t going to give out to him over that,” she said.
She also told the court of their family’s financial troubles as of late, claiming that they’ve had to move house recently, and don’t even have the financial means to hire a lawyer to represent them in court. She also stated that Devon now lives on €1,200 a month, as reported by Evoke.ie.
Devon is currently being sued by his former agent, Neil Brooks, who landed him the role of Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter films. He is suing him for a whopping €286,000, claiming for a lack of payment of commission fees by the Murray’s.
The case has also heard claims of demands made by the child star while on set; he reportedly demanded his own apartment and to be driven in a Lexus. The court also heard of difficulties between Devon and Neil Brooks while filming Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire in 2004 and since then their relationship has been rocky.
Mr Justice Moriarty is to give his judgement on the case today.
