Irish actor and singer Damien McGinty shot to stardom on hit US musical drama Glee. The 24-year-old won the role of Rory Flanagan in the series, after taking part in The Glee Project.
Derry native Damien, who has also toured the world with band Celtic Fusion, recently launched a solo music career and has spoken out about his fans- the good and the bad.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror Damien revealed that he was once sent human hair which almost made him sick. However, he did praise his followers and expressed his gratitude to them.
“A woman sent me a strand of her hair once. I was nearly sick, I hate hair, it’s my pet peeve, it’s the one thing I can’t stand.
“I just thought what am I supposed to do with this? But then another time a girl and her mother sent me a Manchester United signed shirt, their kindness shocked me.
“They weren’t there when I opened it, they didn’t see my reaction and I always try and get in touch and let them know how grateful I am but they didn’t know would they get a response.
“So it’s literally them just being really kind people,” he said.
Damien has just released a Christmas album called This Christmas Time and it’s already topped the iTunes Holiday Chart in America and Canada.
