Over the weekend, our much loved President, Michael D Higgins was celebrating a very special birthday.
Sunday marked his 80th birthday and although he couldn’t celebrate the occasion properly due to Covid, he was spotted by many yesterday out for a walk with his dogs Bród and Misneach.
He appeared on the Late Late Show on Friday night and Ryan spoke with him about his upcoming birthday.
He shared; “I’m in two minds about it, first of all, I think age is only a concept but I’ve been very very fortunate to have the experiences that I’ve had and to have been able to meet so many people.”
“Why I hesitated slightly is that so many good friends of mine even in the past year have passed away and in a sense, I miss them.”
Many familiar Irish faces were wishing him well on social media over the weekend too.
