Aisling Franciosi made a splash on the scene in The Fall as Katie, the babysitter who is groomed by Jamie Dornan’s Paul Spector over the course of the show.

She made a short appearance as Lyanna Stark in Game of Thrones.

The Dublin native then made waves internationally for her raw portrayal of Clare Carroll in The Nightingale. A film that was so brutal cinemagoers left screens.

When VIP Magazine caught up with Aisling for the premiere of her latest film, God’s Creatures, she is in flying form. Far from her on-screen character.

So is she attracted to these roles?

“I think the question is what draws them to me. What the hell?” she laughs as we chat.

“Obviously, I feel very honoured and privileged to play these really rich roles where there’s so much work to do and to be done. It feels very satisfying to play these roles. Honestly, I don’t know why…I don’t think I present as a particularly troubled person.”

In God’s Creatures Aisling plays a young woman named Sarah who accuses Paul Mescal’s character Brian of sexual assault. It’s a topic she feels very strongly about.

“I know it sounds corny, but I treat it as a great honour to tell these stories. It is so many people’s truth. And that’s not okay. So you really have to honour it. I take it very seriously.”

God’s Creatures hits cinemas on March 31st
