Irish actor joins The Hunger Games franchise

The Hunger Games is one of the most popular book and film franchises.

The dystopian young adult book series expanded this year with Sunrise on the Reaping, a prequel series focusing on fan favourite character, Haymitch Abernathy.

The novel sold a staggering 1.5m copies in the first week following its release in March.

A film adaptation of the book is set to hit cinemas in 2026.

Casting has been revealed over the last few weeks and we were very excited to see an Irish name in the casting news.

Molly McCann has been cast as fan favourite character, Louella McCoy.

She will join the star-studded cast that includes Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Ben Wang, Joseph Zeda, Kelvin Harrison Jr, Lili Taylor, Mckenna Grace and Whitney Peak.

Molly has starred in the likes of Bad Sisters, The Boy Who Never Was, Kathleen Is Here and Maxine.

The Maynooth actor has a connection to her Sunrise on the Reaping co-star Elle Fanning as she previously played a younger version of Elle’s sister, Dakota Fanning in Sweetness In The Belly.

We can’t wait to see her in the role next year.
