IKEA have recalled one of their popular summer products due to safety concerns. They’re urging any customers in Ireland who have purchased the MYSINGSÖ beach chair to bring it back to the store for a full refund.
There have been five finger injuries reported worldwide, and all were inflicted when assembling the chair. The injuries took place in Germany, Finland, Australia, Denmark and the USA.
IKEA have stated that after washing the fabric on the recliner, it’s possible to reassemble the chair in the wrong way, which can lead to hand injuries.
Speaking of the recall in a statement the store said, “Safe products is a top priority at IKEA and all our products shall comply with international and national legislation as well as relevant standards.
“The MYSINGSÖ beach chair has gone through relevant mechanical, fabric and chemical tests with approved result. Upon receiving the reports a full investigation was initiated. This lead to an improved design to further mitigate the risks of incorrect re-assembly and injuries.”
No receipt or proof of purchase is required to return the chair, and new stock will be available from February 2017.
