Ciara Doherty was recently chosen as co-host of Ireland AM.
The presenter replaced Sinead Desmond who left in November, reportedly over pay disputes.
Though Ciara had been filling in on the show, she was only made permanent last week.
“I’m absolutely thrilled!” she told VIP Magazine at the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards.
Considering the huge success of the show, and the fans positive reaction to Ciara as co-host, we had to ask whether she was really surprised by the appointment.
“Well I suppose, look I’m on the programme two and a half years, but I’ve been anchoring for six months.”
She added: “The ratings were really good, the feedback was good, I knew there was a positive atmosphere on set and a great rapport between me and Mark, Aidan and Alan, so I was hoping the powers that be would see that and make the right decision which was obviously keeping me in the role, so I’m completely and utterly thrilled,”
“I really wanted this. It’s a great feeling.”
