Doireann Garrihy is our February coverstar and we couldn’t think of a better woman for the job.
This will be her first Valentine’s Day as a married woman.
But her first love will always be radio. And she is set to return to the airwaves with her new Drivetime show on 2FM.
Speaking about her decision to leave the Breakfast Show, she tells VIP: “I just needed a break.”
She lights up as she talks about being on air, she’ll take on her new slot weekdays from 3-6pm on 2FM.
“I knew when I left in May that I wasn’t finished in radio forever. I absolutely knew and felt that,” she confesses.
“But at that time, it was the right time for me to leave. And I made the decision based on my gut, which I have always done. I think my family and friends, as much as they always back and support me, they were like, ‘Oh, here’s Doireann going with her gut again, making these decisions’!”
She laughs before continuing: “But I just don’t think there’s any point making decisions any other way. It felt right for me then, I knew what the rest of my year looked like. I knew what the start of 2025 looked like with Dancing With The Stars (DWTS). I knew I needed a break as well.”
