Paudie Moloney danced up a storm on Sunday night on the first episode of Dancing with the Stars.

He and his pro partner, Laura Nolan, ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 13 from the judges.

However, Paudie tells VIP Magazine after the show: “I was delighted with, I’m happy with it.”

Hailed Paudie Swayze on the night, Laura is quick to remind everyone that he is the oldest person to do the show!

“I didn’t have these great expectations. I’m not surprised and I’m not even disappointed. I’m 68, I’m not going to be keeping up with those young kids,” he tells us with his signature Paudie wit.

And he’s not afraid of the judges as he tells us: “I didn’t think Brian was going to say something nice because I’m 68 years of age. That’s not why I came into this competition. I’ve come to enjoy it, and I’ve enjoyed it!”

Sure he looked like he was having an absolute ball on the dancefloor. He adds that his fellow Traitors co-star and son, Andrew was in the audience.

“All my kids were there with my wife. It was brilliant to be honest, and they’re so supportive.”

Both Dancing with the Stars and The Traitors are high-pressure environments. So we had to ask which is more nerve-racking, the roundtable or the judges’ comments.

Paudie laughs and admits: “I’m happy enough to improve and work on the feedback they’ve given me. As far as the roundtables were concerned, I could defend myself. I never found them nerve-racking. I know it doesn’t sound real, but I really didn’t.

“I found the breakfast table much more difficult because I knew who was gone. I was afraid I would mess up there. But when I was at the roundtable, I knew I would be able to answer anything that came at me. I can’t answer Brian! I can only answer one way, and that’s with my toes.”

Of course, Paudie is a busy man following The Traitors he appeared on Gogglebox as well as in his first Panto. So what’s next?

“I’m going to re-retire!” he laughs.

All the glitz and glam continues on RTÉ One at 6:30pm on Sunday.
