Hughie Maughan’s dad has revealed that he had no idea his son was engaged to boyfriend, Ryan Ruckledge.
Although the loved up couple declared that they were engaged when they were in the Big Brother House, they made it official yesterday by announcing the news on their Twitter accounts.
Ryan took to Twitter saying, “So the cats out the bag me and @hughie_maughan are officially engaged! So happy and can’t wait for the future #biggaygypsywedding??”
Hughie later followed saying, “FINALLY me and ryan can announce that we are officially ENGAGED! We are so happy and everythin feels right, huge hi five 2 the doubters.”
However, in the midst of all the excitement, the couple forgot to share the news with one very important family member -Hughie’s dad!
“I didn’t know anything about Hughie’s engagement. My head is spinning, really spinning.” Hughie Snr told the Irish Sun.
“I need some time to think about this.”
The former boxing coach admitted that he found it difficult seeing pictures of his bisexual son kissing another man in the newspapers while he was on Big Brother.
He also said he would be prepared to “walk into his grave” if God said it would “change Hughie back to the way he was.”
But once Big Brother finished he asked his son to forgive him for his harsh comments.
